Now that we have established the basics of agreement, lets get down to the nitty gritty. Are you having problems with getting your prayers answered? Is there something missing and you’re not sure what it is? How’s your marriage? We need to have agreement and unity in our household, if we have any expectations to receive what the Lord can do for us.
Let’s look at 1 Peter 3:4-8 (AMP) - “4But let it be the inward adorning and beauty of the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible and unfading charm of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which [is not anxious or wrought up, but] is very precious in the sight of God. 5For it was thus that the pious women of old who hoped in God were [accustomed] to beautify themselves and were submissive to their husbands [adapting themselves to them as themselves secondary and dependent upon them]. 6It was thus that Sarah obeyed Abraham [following his guidance and acknowledging his headship over her by] calling him lord (master, leader, authority). And you are now her true daughters if you do right and let nothing terrify you [not giving way to hysterical fears or letting anxieties unnerve you]. 7In the same way you married men should live considerately with [your wives], with an [c]intelligent recognition [of the marriage relation], honoring the woman as [physically] the weaker, but [realizing that you] are joint heirs of the grace (God's unmerited favor) of life, in order that your prayers may not be hindered and cut off. [Otherwise you cannot pray effectively.] 8Finally, all [of you] should be of one and the same mind (united in spirit), sympathizing [with one another], loving [each other] as brethren [of one household], compassionate and courteous (tenderhearted and humble).” You can confess all day long that the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much, however if you have strife in the home it won’t do a bit of good. God’s Word tells us that in marriage two become one, so there must be agreement, or unity. Ephesians 4:1-6 (NIV) – “1As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. 2Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3 Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4 There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called-- 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” Ephesians chapter 5 talks more on marriage and proper authority. Men and women alike must submit to what is best for their relationship to succeed. Find the common ground, submit to one another in love and come into agreement with God’s Word, and you will see and have all that God has promised you.
