Count it all Joy

Every one of us has the opportunity to get upset, frustrated and even angry. We’re in this world and there are problems that come our way. The real challenges aren’t the problems themselves; it’s how we react to them.

James 1:2,3 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” The NIV says it this way… “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” The word patience or perseverance does not mean just put up with the situation. Really it’s saying, be constant and consistent in your faith.

Everything we go through is to point us to the reality of the Kingdom of God. We can’t fix ourselves and we need a Saviour. We need a change in our thinking, and a change in our attitude. The carnal man/mind is where the issue is. Our spirit-man is complete and totally changed. Our carnal-man is not! That’s where our emotions, baggage, hurts, insecurities, etc., are. Therein lays the challenge.  Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

When we align our thought processes with the Word of God, we will see a change in our reaction to the situations in our lives. Understand that doesn’t mean we are complacent in our believing. We stand on the Word which is God’s promise that He will take care of us, even in the middle of that challenge. We can be joyful knowing that the Lord will take us through.

Occasionally Pastors Eric and Laura will write as the Lord leads them. There may be prophetic words or insights and revelation that have come to them. They share these with the intention that someone would be blessed and encouraged or admonished, something we all need once in a while.
