Protocol of the Kingdom - Honoring Authority

Protocol of the Kingdom
Honoring Authority
by Pastor Eric

We know the Kingdom of God operates by faith. We have learned that the just shall live by faith, according to Romans 1:17 - "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith." We also know that faith requires a corresponding action. Faith without works is dead.

Honor is a way to put faith into action. We say we have faith and we respect the man/ woman of God that speaks into our lives yet, we miss the greater blessing by not honoring them. How? When we take that Word that has been spoken, that instruction for our own good and then disregard it. The Lord has placed spiritual authority in our lives to guide into the things of God.

This is God’s honor system.
1 Samuel 2:30 - "Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed."  Also in Proverbs 3:9, 10 - "Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine."

Moses ordained Joshua in Deuteronomy 34:9 - "And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses." Notice that the people honored Moses by listening to and obeying Joshua. This system has not changed.

I know some say, “Well, we have the Holy Spirit in us now so, we don’t need anyone to tell us what to do.” Ok, let’s just see what the Word says. Hebrews 3:7 (Amplified) - "Remember your leaders and superiors in authority [for it was they] who brought to you the Word of God. Observe attentively and consider their manner of living (the outcome of their well-spent lives) and imitate their faith (their conviction that God exists and is the Creator and Ruler of all things, the Provider and Bestower of eternal salvation through Christ, and their leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness)." And verse 17- "Obey your spiritual leaders and submit to them [continually recognizing their authority over you], for they are constantly keeping watch over your souls and guarding your spiritual welfare, as men who will have to render an account [of their trust]. [Do your part to] let them do this with gladness and not with sighing and groaning, for that would not be profitable to you [either]."

We need to show honor, not only in words or finances or just works, which are all good, but from our hearts. If we dishonor those who have been given authority, we dishonor those who sent them.

Your pastors have been called into ministry by the Lord and sent/ ordained by their man of God, or pastor. He was ordained by his pastor and so on. Now if you do that which is dishonorable to your pastor, you are in turn doing the same to the one who sent him and ultimately dishonoring God.

If you desire promotion in the Kingdom, then you must operate according to the Kingdom system. Just as in the military, when one honors the authority above him and does what is required, promotion will come. Stay connected to that authority just as Jesus did. He, Jesus, said if you’ve seen me you’ve seen the Father. How? Jesus only said what the Father said and only did what the Father did.

Occasionally Pastors Eric and Laura will write as the Lord leads them. There may be prophetic words or insights and revelation that have come to them. They share these with the intention that someone would be blessed and encouraged or admonished, something we all need once in a while.
